Here are some pix from the Washington and Orange County ASID chapter fashion shows. Both chapters ask teams of interior designers to make and model couture garments comprised of fabrics and materials used in the interior design trade, such as tiles, plastic laminate, carpeting etc.
The Washington chapter’s garments took over a year to design and produce. At the extreme end of the spectrum, the Orange County chapter gave its designers 90 minutes to design and produce the clothes with randomly drawn materials just before the event! Both runways shows were a roaring success.
My California Peninsula Chapter (S. Bay area to Carmel/Monterey) will be launching a “reality fashion show” called Designer Challenge on 4/22. It is based on the Orange County Chapter model, so it will be wild and crazy. Since it is our first show, we’d probably have to work out the kinks, but hopefully everyone will have a good time. Enjoy!
