This sofa\u2019s name, Soft Machine, is attributed to the title of a book by US novelist William Burroughs as well as the eponymous 60\u2019s UK jazz rock band. Its avant-garde styling is the brainchild of architect Giovanni Tommaso Garattoni, one of the founders of Bolidismo<\/a>\u00a0that succeeded Italian Futurism of the early 20th century.<\/p>\n

This new movement celebrates speed and motion, showcasing bold curves and aerodynamic lines. Bolidismo exudes a raw, poetic vibe that\u2019s poised between grace and tension\u2014like something caught in mid-flight.<\/p>\n

From Italian furniture brand Adrenalina<\/a>, the seating\u2019s overall dimensions are 125.98\u201d w x 47.24\u201d d x 37.01\u201d h, and available in an array of colors and materials. To create the sculptural form, the sofa\u2019s sensuous shape is supported by a skeleton of tubular metal covered with high resilience poly-density foam wrapped in dacron.<\/p>\n

Cloud Nine.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Created by French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec<\/a> for Italian furniture manufacturer Cappellini<\/a> the modular Cloud bookcase is as versatile as it is practical. The double-sided storage system can be installed either horizontally or vertically on its side as shown. Joined together with nothing more than 2 white metal pressure clips, the white polyethylene units can easily be expanded to match growing needs. The storage modules are robust enough to be used outdoors and measures 73.75″ w x 17.25″ d x 41″ h with 13.25″ dia. Holes.<\/p>\n

For those pining for exotic adventures while working from home, Barbar is the perfect antidote:\u00a0 made from natural rattan, wood, cork, and steel, this \u2018Office in an Elephant\u2019 will bring the safari to you! Special rattan weaving simulates the elephant\u2019s crinkled skin, but the openness of the work capsule is offset by the large cork bulletin board \u2018ears\u2019. The side of the elephant opens up to a work surface, center drawer and bookshelves on the two ends. More storage shelves are stashed in the legs for additional functionality.
