Lighting with a twist.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Designed by Eduardo Uma\u00f1a of Classic Engineering<\/a>, Classic M\u00f6bius is an innovative table lamp that turns on with a simple whistle, making it as fun as it is functional. No apps, voice commands, wi-fi or Bluetooth needed! The fixture\u2019s flowing curves are inspired by the M\u00f6bius loop. For those of us who haven\u2019t touched math for a while, a M\u00f6bius loop is formed by making a half-twist with a strip of paper and then attaching the two ends together. The result is a delightful mix of playful interaction and stylish design.<\/p>\n

Two sleek thermoformed Corian<\/a> bands are anchored onto a sound dampening cork column that houses a manual light switch, microphone, and whistle sensitivity control, while providing an organic, tactile counterpoint. The electronics are prominently displayed between 2 polished crystal disks atop the cork, and thanks to the microphone\u2019s MEMS technology, it can be tuned for whistle recognition up to 50 ft at a turn of the crystal dial. The 2500 lumen, 4100 K light fixture measures 27″ x 16″ x 13″ and takes 4-6 weeks to fabricate by hand. At $2,300 each, it\u2019s certainly good that the LEDs are expected to last 40,000 hours!<\/p>\n

Boogie lights.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Flamenco is widely known as a passionate and expressive art form. Aptly called Fandango, this dramatic suspension light fixture is likened to the high energy swirling of the traje de flamenco in its namesake dance, with the fluttering ruffles of the dress seemingly frozen in time. The chandelier is by Dutch designer Danny Fang<\/a> for HIVE, an artists\u2019 collective under the tutelage of Kenneth Cobonpue. The shade features layers of organic white muslin cotton edged with wire piping, so each owner can hand shape the pieces to customize the lamp\u2019s look and feel. Made in Philippines, the hanging lamp is powered by two 50W halogens, and available in 2 sizes: 29.5″ dia x 15.7\u201d h and 39.4″ dia x 25.6\u201d h.<\/p>\n

The Soap LED Pendant Light by Melogranoblu<\/a> will awaken your inner child. The mirrored glass globe offers a clear view of the frosted bubbles that seem to magically appear inside, and float like soapy suds about to burst. Meticulously crafted by master glassblowers, the milky spheres shimmer with an ethereal glow under the 2800 K LED down light. The dimmable 8W pendant fixture measures 11.81\u201d dia x H 11.8\u201d h, and has an adjustable height of 17.81\u201d to 91.73\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ribbon by The Goodman Studio<\/a> is a modular lighting collection that transforms handblown glass into elegant, sinuous strips of light. Shaped by heat and gravity, the initial ball of molten glass is blown, stretched, and bent, distilling glass down into its elemental form in suspended motion. Each light fixture captures the fluidity of glass in bold colors, showcasing the delicate balance between strength and fragility.<\/p>\n

With over 20 colors available, the thin, vibrant curves change appearance according to vantage point, making it a dynamic work of art on the wall. Strung on cables with custom light rods, these pieces range from 48\u201d to 70\u201d in length, Ribbon is more than just illumination; it’s a conversation piece that captures the fleeting beauty of blown glass.<\/p>\n

Shaped like a speech bubble used in comics, this is part lighting, part Pop Art, and the name BLA BLA says it all. It\u2019s created by Emanuele Magini<\/a> for MOGG, an Italian furniture and design company known for its minimalism and unique designs. The whimsical LED suspension fixture is the epitomy of self-expression, where one can muse about the past, present or future, and share it with the world via this quirky lamp with dry-erase markers. Comprised of a black pvc frame, and an optional Plexiglass insert for posting personal exchanges or business communications, the lighting comes in 2 sizes: 22.44\u201d w x .78\u201d d x 16.92\u201d h and 29.72\u201d w x .78\u201d d x 24.8\u201d h. It\u2019s made to order with a 45 day lead.<\/p>\n
