Here are some interesting environmentally friendly lighting fixtures<\/a> with shades that are made of organic, recyclable, or bio-degradable materials from around the world. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

Silk cocoon lighting fixtures are organic in form and feel.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Thai firm\u00a0Ango<\/a> taps into the country\u2019s silk industry and cleverly re-purposes the silk cocoons for making lamp shades. Shown is the floor lamp. Also available are different styles of ceiling, wall and table fixtures in natural, black and red cocoons.<\/p>\n

A lantern that elevates the traditional Chinese handicraft of paper cutting to a high art.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Architect Yu Jordy Fu<\/a> uses intricate paper cuts to create her unique designs. The 3-dimensional shades are of recycled paper treated with non-flammable spray. You can promote sustainability and avoid landfills with this product in one fell swoop!<\/p>\n

Although it’s debatable if one wants to eat the cooked vermicelli after it’s been hanging on the lamp for a while, being compostable certainly makes it an eco-conscious lighting choice!<\/p>\n
