Overshadowed by the lively city of Bordeaux and the super picturesque <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saint-emilion-tourisme.com\/uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saint-\u00c9milion<\/a>\u00a0nearby, the town nonetheless has its own charms. It happened to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeanddate.com\/holidays\/france\/armistice-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armistice Day<\/a>, a public holiday commemorating the end of World War I. From still life compositions to architectural landmarks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chocolaterielarnicol.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maison Larnicol<\/a> has something for everyone. This gate is inside the village, so it\u2019s thought to be used as access control to the wealthier upper town. Comptoir des Vignobles proffers fine vintages for as much as \u20ac6,432 for a bottle of Cheval 1945. The local ocher limestone gives the buildings a warm glow.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dating to the 13<sup>th<\/sup> century, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saint-emilion-tourisme.com\/uk\/1-discover\/31-the-12-inescapable-monuments\/4-the-collegiate-church-and-its-cloister.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cloister<\/a> is the geographic &amp; spiritual hub for the monastery. Some of the old town ramparts still stand today.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fodors.com\/world\/europe\/france\/bordeaux-and-the-wine-country\/places\/cadillac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cadillac<\/a> is just a short hop away. Its\u00a0western entrance is guarded by the imposing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chateau-cadillac.fr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chateau Des Ducs D&#8217;\u00c9pernon<\/a>. It means a very, very long harvest looking at the acreage!<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, this is also our last port of call before sailing back to Bordeaux.
