The high speed TGV train ride to Paris from Chalon-sur-Sa\u00f4ne, where we disembarked, was a scant 3.5 hrs. Having stayed in the Left Bank and Marais districts before, I opted for a hotel by the Eiffel Tower. It was great food, great company \u2013 we couldn\u2019t have asked for anything more! Alison kindly gave us the leftover foie gras from our fabulous dinner\u00a0and walked us to the metro station where we caught one of the last metros back to our hotel. Unfortunately, <a href=\"https:\/\/interspace-design.com\/blog\/bordeaux-wine-chateau-cruise-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a cancelled flight upended our plan<\/a>s.\u00a0This time, I decide to check out the Montmartre neighborhood where Vincent Van Gogh and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec hung out.<\/p>\n<p>We met up with our guide Peter and soon got our first glimpse of the fabled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.moulinrouge.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moulin Rouge<\/a>, the cabaret that embodies Montmartre\u2019s Bohemian spirit and has entertained commoners and royals alike for over 150 years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6609\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6609\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/interspace-design.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Montmartre-Market-A.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6609 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/interspace-design.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Montmartre-Market-A.jpg\" alt=\"Seafood and produce in local shops\" width=\"512\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interspace-design.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Montmartre-Market-A.jpg 512w, https:\/\/interspace-design.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Montmartre-Market-A-219x300.jpg 219w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6609\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Local shops overflowing with the bounty from land and sea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Peter also took us to some of his favorite food shops. It\u2019s fall and choc full of mushrooms (my favorite produce) of all stripes! Both were owned by the Debray family, who were millers and bakers. Moulin Blute-fin, where the Debrays sold their very popular <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">galettes<\/a> and wine, was eventually renamed Moulin de la Galette. The second most visited monument in Paris, it is located at the summit of Montmartre, the highest point in Paris. It offered truffle and foie gras &#8211; all the good things in life &#8211; in a single dish. The bubbling cheese was a perfect foil for the shaved truffle and baby arugula atop the blistered cracker crust. We were so full that we decided to take half the pizza back.
