More ASID Fashion Show Pix

Here are some more pix from Product Runway, the American Society of Interior Designers Washington State Chapter fashion show that uses products and materials for the interior design industry. Our chapter, the California Peninsula Chapter, will be having our pilot show on April 22. We’ll have several photographers and videographers on hand, so we should get some good coverage!

Unlike our Designer Challenge, which is a cross between Project Runway and NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge, the Washington Chapter’s show was a year and a half in the making and had a committee of 30+ people. The teams were able to utilize some of the more unusual materials in the interior design industry, like commercial seating, office furnishings, carpeting, and even lighting fixtures. It also hired a professional presentation company to produce the show, had celebrity judges for its competition, and sold 300 tickets to the public.

Strapless tank top with a pair of poofy culottes.

Part of the culottes was ingeniously turned into a wrap. A team member popped onto the runway to spray ‘graffiti’ on the wrap once the model unfurled and draped it around both shoulders. Very clever indeed!

A gown, shawl, and hat made with shimmering window sheers. A very elegant tone-on-tone creation!

Baseball stitches were nice detailing for the dress made from industrial materials.

Sharp contrast between the orange ribbon and gray bustle added graphic interest.

The ruffled top underwent an amazing transformation and became an asymmetric ankle length skirt.

Funky white ‘tattoo’ tied in with the pretty lacey dress and wrap.

Wonderful interplay of textures with complimentary colors peeking through the layers of sheer fabrics.

An impressive train made with the gathered sheers.

Commercial furnishings were cleverly integrated into the dress and accessories.

The yellow yarns added a punch to the otherwise neutral palette.

Who would think glass tiles and wood laminates could be turned into a sexy bikini and halter cover-up?

This outfit featured a sculptural white cape. Gensler was probably the sponsoring firm as its name was cleverly inscribed onto the outfit!
